If you’re relying on willpower, it's the plan that's rubbish, not you
When your motivation to achieve something disappears, what do you usually do?
Look for more motivation?
Try to summon some willpower?
Promise yourself you'll be more disciplined tomorrow?
If so, I've got some bad news. Nobody wakes up every morning overflowing with enthusiasm for meal prep, strength training, vegetables and going for a walk when it's raining.
So, if your health plan depends on you feeling like doing it, that isn’t going to work for long.
Instead, ask yourself this:
What could you make easier?
For example:
If you want to walk more, when could you attach a walk to something you already do?
If you want to eat better lunches, what could you prepare before you're hungry?
If you want to stop automatically reaching for food while working, what could you change about your environment?
If you want to protect your evening wind-down, what boundary could you put around your work?
The question is NOT "How can I make myself do this?"
Instead, it's "How can I make doing this the easier option?"
That shift sounds small. But it's huge. Sustainable habits aren't built by repeatedly winning a battle against yourself. They're built by designing your life so you don't have to fight so many battles in the first place.
Let's make healthy simple
Pick one behaviour you want to do more consistently
Finish this sentence: "It would be easier to do this if I…" (Don't overthink it - one small, practical change is enough)
Decide exactly when you’ll first do it – time, day etc
Do it. And keep doing it!
These things are so much easier with support, so if you want help sticking to healthy habits no matter how busy life gets – Let’s Chat
